Melasma, or "pregnancy mask", is a skin condition that can cause patches of light or dark brown hyperpigmentation. The most common areas we see it are on the upper lip and forehead, but it can occur anywhere on the skin. Melasma is more commonly found in female patients, as it is primarily caused by fluctuations in hormones. Hormonal birth control, pregnancy, and even menopause can all cause this type of change within your skin.

Every patient is different, therefore a thorough consultation with our licensed esthetician will help to determine the proper course of treatment.
